About Ms. A. Rey

I'm Ashlee Ward, founder and owner of Ms. A. Rey, LLC, but everyone in the arts community calls me Ashlee Rey. Hence, the name Ms. A. Rey! 

Hailing from St. Clair County, IL, I got my start as Raynell in August Wilson’s Fences at the St. Louis Black Rep. I moved to Virginia to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Hampton University, became a Supervisory Nuclear Engineer for the Control Engineering Division at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), and furthered my education by obtaining my Master’s in Engineering Management and the ISO 9001: 2015 Lead Auditor Certification.

As much as I value S.T.E.M., my heart is with the arts, and S.T.E.A.M is taking over! In 2021, I decided to get back into the arts. Since then, I’ve performed in numerous productions here in Hampton Roads but have noticed that the work available is so sparse in Portsmouth that it’s almost non-existent: but the art community is here!

Established October 2023, Ms. A. Rey, LLC strives to bring the love of the theater to Portsmouth by providing resources, funding, and products for Hampton Roads artists, companies, and theater lovers. Soon, Portsmouth will have a thriving theater!
